Mr. Brian Myers - Band Director

Mr. Brian Myers - New Band Director Brian Myers has been the Director of Bands at Green Hope High School since August of 2007. Myers completed his undergraduate degree in Music Education from East Carolina University in May 2004. His primary instrument was the piano. He completed his Masters of Music Education degree from Boston University in September 2007. In November 2011, he became a National Board certified teacher in the area of Early Adolescence to Young Adulthood Music.

While completing his undergraduate degree at East Carolina University, Myers performed in the Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and University Chorale. Myers was also a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and participated in various seminars and tutoring experiences relating to the scholarship program.

Myers began his career as the Director of Bands at Roanoke Rapids High School where he led the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Guard, and Indoor Drumline to becoming ensembles of distinction. During his second year at RRHS, he was nominated as a finalist for Teacher of the Year for the Roanoke Rapids Graded School District. Myers was also the Youth Director and pianist at Rosemary United Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids.

During his time at Green Hope High School, he has led the marching band to several grand championships and finalist appearances at regional and national competitions. The Symphonic Band and Concert Band have achieved several superior ratings at the annual Music Performance Adjudication, and Mr. Myers has also partnered with many professional conductors and musicians in the area to provide students with master classes and other opportunities.

Mr. Myers partnered with Philip Sparke to commission a new work in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Green Hope High School. Mr. Sparke was brought in by the Band Boosters to rehearse the new piece, "Neapolitan Holiday", with the band and conduct it on the world premiere performance at Meymandi Hall in May of 2009.

He led the marching band to the Gator Bowl in 2009 where they earned the Sweepstakes Award and were chosen to perform a portion of their competition show for the pregame ceremonies of the Gator Bowl.
